Military diving is mostly done in remote areas, including islands,
atolls, oil rigs and open ocean. Management of diving injuries in these
areas are frequently difficult due to the limited transportation options
and limited communications. To limit the effects of diving injuries,
IUHM deploys doctors and paramedics who are trained in diving medicine
to assist divers operating in remote locations. These medical personnel
provides first aid and recompression treatment immediately upon
detecting the onset of diving illnesses. In addition, they help to
prevent diving injuries by advising the dive teams on health and safety
aspects of diving |
