Welcome to the Institute of Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine

About Us

Underwater Medicine is one of the main disciplines of Naval Medicine, concerned with the safety and health of divers and submariners. Located in Royal Malaysian Navy's Lumut Base, the Institute of Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine runs a 3-compartment recompression treatment chamber with the most modern facilities. As a department in the Armed Forces Hospital Lumut, IUHM also provides clinical hyperbaric services in a hospital setting.

Since 1996, we have been committed to maintain our services as the national referral centre for cases of diving illnesses and clinical hyperbaric medicine, as well as a centre of excellence in this specialised field.
